Summary of Role

We are delighted to be able to offer three Associate Clinical Professor posts in medical or clinical oncology posts to provide broad-based research and clinical teaching.

We are seeking highly motivated individuals committed to further develop their skills as academic leaders in the areas of medical or clinical oncology to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity for you to play a significant role in developing research in clinical trials, translational medicine and/or discovery science projects through close collaboration with academic staff across Birmingham Health Partners. The successful candidate will be expected to be involved in the delivery of undergraduate and postgraduate teaching. The applicant must be registered with the General Medical Council (GMC) and have the appropriate clinical training, qualifications, and experience. 

International travel may be required.

*Clinical Requirements – Confirmed on Appointment 

To contribute to clinical service provision at an affiliated NHS teaching hospital trust at consultant level in a specialised area of Medical or Clinical Oncology of relevance to research activity. To ensure collaboration fostered between NHS trusts and the University. Such activity will also enable the post-holder to maintain specialist registration in Medical/Clinical Oncology with the General Medical Council (GMC) 

Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications and Experience Required

  • Normally, a higher degree relevant to the research/teaching area (usually PhD) or equivalent qualifications.
  • Eligible for GMC Registration/on update service
  • Inclusion on or within 6 months of inclusion on Specialist Register in relevant area of medical or clinical oncology.

Clinical Experience

  • The candidate should have attained NHS consultant status or be within 6 months of CCST in the specialty of Medical or Clinical Oncology and will hold an honorary consultant appointment in the specialty of Medical or Clinical Oncology at an affiliated NHS teaching hospital trust at the time of appointment to this post. The candidate will be required to support an on-call rota. Crucially, this post is tumour site agnostic. The specific site(s) that the successful candidate will primarily work in will be dependent upon their previous skills and experience and will be decided with discussion of the Clinical Service Lead for Oncology at UHB.
