A yoga class in the UK was descended upon by police after it was mistaken for a scene of a “mass killing”.

Police were called to the class, held at North Sea Observatory in Lincolnshire — in England’s midlands region — on Wednesday night, after a member of the public spotted “several people laying on the floor” through the window.

In a post on Facebook, Yoga teacher Millie Laws said her class were “drifting into a deep state of relaxation” when local dog walkers passing by mistook the scene for a “ritual mass murder”.

“Although it’s easy to see the funny side, my heart goes out to those people who thought the worst,” she added.

Lincolnshire Police told BBC the call was made “with good intentions” following concerns for the occupants.

“Officers attended, we’re happy to report everyone was safe and well,” a spokesman told the publication.

The Seascape Café, who host the yoga sessions, have assured the public they are not part of “any mad cult or crazy clubs” following the mix-up.

“If any one heard the mass of police sirens in Chapel St Leonard’s at 9:30pm last night then please be reassured …. They were on their way to the Observatory after someone had reported a mass killing in our building. Having seen several people laying on the floor,” they wrote in the post.

“Please be mindful that the Observatory has lots of Yoga classes happening in the evenings. We are not part of any mad cult or crazy clubs.”

The cafe went on to thank local police for their “prompt response”.

“I can’t imagine for one moment what would have being going through their minds on the way.”

“All in all this situation turned out positive and we are of course grateful”.
