Full time (35 hours/week)

We are seeking a research practitioner with experience of clinical and research studies to join the existing team of research nurses and research practitioners working as part of the South East Scottish Cancer Research Network (SESCRN).

The Opportunity:

This is an exciting opportunity to become involved with translational research and clinical trials being undertaken by the University of Edinburgh and NHS Lothian. The successful post holder will be responsible for taking informed consent for the donation of biological specimens from patients undergoing treatment in the NHS, therefore requiring tact, empathy, and diplomacy in their approach. The post holder will also be responsible for collection of biological specimens, mainly blood by venepuncture, and maintenance of relevant databases, requiring coordination with patients, surgical and medical staff, researchers and other healthcare professionals within the University of Edinburgh and NHS Lothian.

Your skills and attributes for success:

  • Educated to HNC/HND plus relevant experience.
  • Able to demonstrate the appropriate competencies and skills for the job.
  • Shows willingness to learn about research policies and procedures e.g. GCP/GCLP Guidelines and tissue governance.
  • Excellent organisation and administration skills.
