The role

Applications are invited for a post-doctoral research associate position (with funding currently available until 30/09/2024) at the University of Bristol. The project is funded by the BBSRC and will build on previous work published by the Richardson lab on tissue regeneration in adult zebrafish. The project aims to investigate the full complexity of the inflammatory response to tissue injury, focussing on the adaptive immune system. This project represents an opportunity to utilise well-established models and multiple tools within the lab to answer important questions about tissue repair and regeneration.

What will you be doing?

The successful applicant will join a close-knit and enthusiastic research team working on tissue repair and regeneration and modelling human disease in zebrafish. The role will involve the day-to-day running of the project in collaboration with the PI and specialist technician, performing a range of research tasks (including animal work, FACS, molecular techniques, histology), writing manuscripts, presenting at meetings and conferences and assisting with training and supervision of postgraduate members of the lab.

You should apply if

A PhD in a biological or biomedical science is essential (awarded or imminent). The successful candidate should have prior experience of live imaging or working with tissue samples and knowledge of tissue repair and regeneration models (preferably in zebrafish) and/or cardiac or epidermal biology. The successful applicant will be highly organised, eager to learn new skills and willing to interact with a broad range of colleagues.
