Senior Research Associate in Cancer at University of Bristol

The role

The post-holder will co-design interventions with stakeholders, including PPI, and conduct feasibility randomised trials and other studies within the Diet and Physical Activity (DPA) Theme of the NIHR Bristol Biomedical Research Centre (BRC), at the University of Bristol, and working closely with the Bradford Institute for Health Research. This post offers an excellent opportunity for an experienced mixed methods researcher, with an interest in cancer, to work in the BRC.

What will you be doing?

The researcher in Cancer will co-ordinate a programme of research by designing and conducting qualitative research and feasibility studies, including their statistical analysis and publishing results. A key part of the role involves working with patient and public groups to co-design interventions tailored for specific populations, such as south Asians. You will work independently but also in the wider DPA theme, and under the direction of the cancer workstream co-leads Professors Richard Martin and Athene Lane. You will also work closely with collaborators in the Bradford Institute of Health Research, clinical teams in Bristol and Bradford, BRC staff, and researchers in University of Bristol Population Heath Sciences Department and the Centre for Exercise, Nutrition and Health Sciences. 

You will also have opportunities for contributing to teaching and supervision of Masters students – as appropriate to the post-holder’s interests and expertise.

You should apply if

You will be able to demonstrate a commitment to working on research projects and their management independently and as part of a team, with the excellent communication and inter-personal skills to be able to co-ordinate a multi-disciplinary research team, including patient and public representatives. Ideally, you will have experience of working on population-based cancer studies, including obtaining ethical research approvals.
