We are looking to recruit a postdoctoral Research Associate to join the group of Prof Menna Clatworthy in the Department of Medicine. The post holder will perform independent research using, and assist in the running of, our two-photon microscopy facility. The successful applicant will help develop pipelines to utilise spatial transcriptomic technologies, combining microscopy with an assessment of the tissue transcriptome to investigate spatial differences across both murine and human organs.
The appointee will have a PhD in relevant subject (e.g. Immunology, Molecular Biology, or Genomics) preferably with substantial experience in advanced imaging and microscopy including confocal and intravital two-photon microscopy. Experience of in vivo imaging of murine models of health and disease, with a Home Office personal licence and knowledge of the complexities of generating a project licence would be helpful too. The post will involve some service commitment to the running of the two-photon facility, in particular basic maintenance, liaising with technical support teams for the microscope and laser (as required), induction and training other users in basic live imaging techniques, and providing advice and guidance for other users on experimental set-up. The successful candidate will also be expected to develop methods to enhance the quality of in vivo imaging and to optimise techniques to image human immune cells.
In addition to the two photon imaging, the successful candidate will be involved in the set up and optimisation of various spatial transcriptomic methods within the group in collaboration with other lab members.
The appointee will be involved in several other projects in the lab, and the role has the potential for the researcher to explore their own ideas.

Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available until 30th September 2025 in the first instance.
