About Us
You will become a part of a small and friendly multi-disciplinary Food, Consumer Behaviour and Health Research Centre (FCBH) that specialises in study of social, policy and ethical issues relevant to the grand societal challenges such as;
- Sustainability and obesity.
- Study of food systems from the perspective of significant actors and stakeholders within the system.
- Food-related behaviour and policy interventions (such as labelling, health claims) to achieve sustainable and healthy lifestyles.
- Methodologically advancing the field of food consumer science through exploring novel sources of data and methods of data linking.
FCBH is a leading research centre for the study of food-related behaviour and policy and part of the University of Surrey team that was awarded the Queen’s Anniversary Prize for Higher and Further Education in recognition of its excellence in the field of food and nutrition. You will also have the opportunity to become active in the university’s wider networks such as the university’s Institute for Sustainability.
About the role
We are looking to appoint a Post Doctoral Research Associate on a Fixed Term contract ending 31/12/2024 to support a variety of projects as part of the Food, Consumer Behaviour and Health Research Centre, School of Psychology at Surrey University.
The post-holder will be involved in a variety of research proposal-development initiatives and research projects, relevant to sustainable food systems.
About you
This role may appeal to someone with;
- Expertise in food consumer science and food systems research, with a background in social sciences such as social, environmental psychology or sociology.
- An interest in food and public health policy is essential. You will have a key role in planning, designing and writing up of studies, including responsibility of their day-to-day running.
- Strong quantitative and qualitative research skills will be essential.
- You will need to be a good communicator, able to work with and disseminate to both academic and non-academic audiences.
- Good statistical skills are necessary, ideally with the ability to work in R.
- There will be a focus on open and replicable research methods throughout.
