We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic person to drive development and validation of an animal-free pre-clinical, stem-cell based respiratory organoid platform for modelling the effect of environmental particulate matter on respiratory health. This post, funded by NC3Rs is available until 9th February 2025 in the first instance, with the potential to extend further if research milestones and deliverables are successfully demonstrated.
The purpose of this role will be to develop, characterise and validate an immune-competent 3D respiratory organoid platform that can model the effect of particulate matter on respiratory function. The post holder will be expected to plan and conduct work using approaches or methodologies and techniques appropriate to the type of research, and will be responsible for writing up their work for publication. There is a strong expectation that the role holder will have clearly developed experience generating respiratory cells from hIPSCs. The role holder will be able to build relationships and collaborate with other members of the Hannan lab as well as members of the University of Nottingham Biodiscovery Institute as needed.
The role holder will have the opportunity to use their initiative and creativity to identify areas for research, develop research methods and extend their research portfolio.
The post is offered on a fixed term contract until 09 February 2025. Hours of work are full time, 36.25 hours per week.
Informal enquiries may be addressed to Dr Nicholas Hannan, email: Nick.Hannan@nottingham.ac.uk. Please note that applications sent directly to this email address will not be accepted.
