Job description

We are seeking an individual to be part of the interprofessional leadership team for the accredited MSc Advanced Clinical Practice (ACP) programme, an established and highly evaluated programme. The MSc ACP supports healthcare professionals to progress to senior practice roles online with the NHS England Framework for Advanced Clinical Practice by providing skills and knowledge around the four pillars of advanced practice.

This is a full time post, however, we offer flexibility for part time working.

This post will be offered on an indefinite contract pending successful completion of probation (3 years).

Essential criteria

  • Registration as a nurse with the NMC, a registered healthcare professional with HCPC, General Pharmaceutical Council; other international equivalence, by the start of employment
  • Evidence of a senior clinical role in relation to advanced practice in an acute or community setting and experience of the planning and delivering high quality evaluated education at undergraduate and, postgraduate levels with a strong focus on a high quality student experience and success. If a Senior Lecturer, evidence of leadership in education and assessment initiatives
  • Evidence of commitment to continued development in evidence based practice, research methods and evidence relevant to care, with up-to-date knowledge, skills and accomplishments, able to supervise MSc and undergraduate student projects and critically appraise a wide range of relevant research, including data presentation and basic analysis
  • Ability to work well as an effective member of teams and networks and to share and encourage good practice in teaching and research and to inspire and motivate others, including in challenging environments. If a Senior Lecturer, also evidence of successful team staff development. The applicant should have an emergent understanding of the range of work underway in the Faculty and across King’s, to enhance this team work
  • Excellent written, verbal and digital communication skills, in all formats, face to face, presentation, email, reports, written and for teaching. If a Senior Lecturer, evidence of developing this in others
  • Excellent administrative and organisational skills, underpinned by strong interpersonal skills and personal effectiveness, able to deliver high quality work and projects to deadlines, work efficiently and prioritise appropriately, and take individual responsibility for planning and undertaking work
  • Commitment to promoting equality, diversity and inclusivity for staff and students
  • MSc in Advanced Practice
  • In depth understanding of education methods and approaches, including emerging digital learning, extensive evidence of educational innovation and leadership in achieving student success, with published evaluation of achievements or other relevant publications
  • Proven commitment to innovation and student learning in education, to support student wellbeing, and enabling students’ personal and professional development, and providing academic advice and pastoral support
  • Evidence of strong publication history including acting as first or last author on two papers for a relevant professional or academic journal or book chapter in the last three years
  • A major education related leadership role with evidence of improvement in student experience
