We are recruiting a research fellow to join the NIHR Health Protection Research Unit (HPRU) in Immunisation in the Department of Infectious Disease Epidemiology. The post is in the HPRU’s ‘Making the most of real-world data’ theme, which aims to increase vaccine coverage and support data-driven immunisation programmes using digital technologies and electronic health records. The Theme’s programme includes inequalities in infectious disease burden and vaccine uptake; vaccine safety, effectiveness, and impact; and approaches to better use of data in the delivery and evaluation of immunisation programmes. The post holder will work in partnership with colleagues from the UK Health Security Agency, and across the school including the HPRU, Electronic Health Records Group, and Vaccine Centre.
The successful candidate will have a postgraduate degree, ideally a doctoral degree, in a relevant topic. They will have experience in leading, designing, analysing and interpreting epidemiological studies using large electronic health record datasets. Experience using the Clinical Practice Research Datalink for epidemiological research is desirable. The post requires strong data management and quantitative skills with expertise in a common statistical package (e.g., Stata/R). Further particulars are included in the job description.
The post is full-time and fixed-term until 31 December 2024 with the possibility of extension dependent on funding. The post is funded by the National Institute for Health and Care Research and is available immediately.
The salary will be on the Academic Pathway salary scale Grade 6 in the range £43,947-£49,908 per annum (inclusive of London Weighting). The post will be subject to the LSHTM terms and conditions of service. Annual leave entitlement is 30 working days per year, pro rata for part-time staff. In addition to this there are discretionary “Wellbeing Days”. Membership of the Pension Scheme is available. The post is based in London.
