Centre for Cancer Screening, Prevention and Early Diagnosis

The Women’s Precision Prevention team undertakes a number of research studies/trials in the areas of genetic testing, population screening, and targeted cancer prevention. The team has a particular interest in health economic research and has undertaken number of cost-effectiveness analyses related to the above research areas. These studies involve multi-centre collaborations.

This role will involve undertaking an evaluation of a pilot NHS programme assessing expanding BRCA testing in the UK, including developing a cost-effectiveness model and statistical analysis of the programme aspects such as patient satisfaction surveys, ethnicity and uptake rates of preventative interventions. The team has a strong track record in this area and close academic links with the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. The post holder will be responsible for undertaking economic analyses and work under the supervision of Professor Ranjit Manchanda group leader at the Centre for Cancer Screening, Prevention and Early Diagnosis (SPED), WIPH and Dr Rosa Legood collaborator and group leader at LSHTM and QMUL.

Applicants must be educated to at least MSc or PHD in health economics, economics or a related quantitative topic. They should have strong analytical and interpretative skills with a clear understanding of the research process, including the ability to interpret the scientific literature and incorporate this into the project.

This post is a full time fixed term appointment for one year, and is based at our Charterhouse campus in London. The expected start date is November 2023. The starting salary will be Grade 4 or Grade 5 (depending on qualifications and experience), in the range of £38,165 – £44,722 per annum, inclusive of London Allowance.
