Job Summary 

This is an exciting opportunity for a talented Research Fellow to join our dynamic team at Imperial College London to contribute to the delivery of a portfolio of projects within the NIHR Imperial Biomedical Research Centre’s (BRC) Digital Health theme and Paddington Life Sciences initiative, spanning translational data analytics, Artificial Intelligence and Real-World Evidence. The Imperial BRC’s secure data environment, Imperial Clinical Analytics Research and Evaluation (iCARE), provides a unique platform enabling routinely collected health data to be analysed within the NHS for research, evaluation, and direct care returns. The post-holder will work with richly detailed, de-identified health and social care data to deliver new insights, developments and interventions that make a genuine contribution to improving health at person and population level. 

Duties and responsibilities

  • You will lead and undertake research of the highest quality in the broad area of clinical analytics, including developing, implementing, and evaluating healthcare interventions for clinical decision support in electronic health records.
  • You will provide expertise in evaluating digital health technologies and innovations, delivering insights from large datasets to generate robust evidence of patient and health service benefit.
  • You will work closely and collaboratively with a variety of stakeholders, including clinicians, data scientists and data engineers from Imperial College London, Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, Whole Systems Integrated Care and other NHS and research partners.

Essential requirements

  • You will have a PhD or equivalent in clinical medicine research, computational science, operational research, applied statistics or related fields and knowledge or background in data science.
  • You will have experience in evaluating health interventions and in working with large structured and unstructured healthcare datasets using SQL, Python, and/or R.
  • Experience in using and analysing routinely collected electronic health record data
  • Significant experience in monitoring and evaluating health interventions
  • Significant experience of data analysis and visualisation
  • Practical experience within a research environment including publications in relevant and refereed journals
  • Experience of working with specific NHS stakeholders e.g., NIHR, NHS England, NHS Improvement, Academic Health Science Networks
  • Evidence of teaching and teaching support
