The MRC Epidemiology Unit is seeking to appoint a Research Assistant.
This position is based in the Unit’s Public Health Modelling team. The primary role of this post is to collate and assess the existing Exposure-Response Functions of various environmental exposures and mortality including air pollution, noise, green space, and heat and coordinate discussions and consensus decision making amongst consortium and external partners. The results of this work will be used to set-up health impact assessment models within The European Urban Burden of Disease Project.

The MRC Epidemiology Unit is a department within the University of Cambridge’s School of Clinical Medicine and is situated within the Institute of Metabolic Science on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus. Its mission is to study the genetic, developmental and environmental factors that cause obesity, diabetes and related metabolic disorders and develop strategies for their prevention. The Unit benefits from a number of large-scale, cross programme epidemiological studies with detailed datasets allowing a wide range of research from genetics to public health. Highly experienced information teams and other specialist teams support the scientists in the delivery of their research aims.
The successful candidate will have a qualification in environmental epidemiology, environmental sciences, or health with a masters or recently completed PhD degree. Applicants will have proven systematic literature review and synthesis skills and an excellent understanding of environmental epidemiology and the long-term health effects of various urban exposures. The successful applicant will also have proven skills in coordination and coalition building and will be responsible for coordinating activities of this work package amongst the consortium’s members and external collaborators within a larger European cluster.
