Contract type: Fixed term for 24 months
Location: SITraN
Applications are invited for the Postdoctoral Research Associate post to work at the Sheffield Institute for Translational Neuroscience (SITraN) at the University of Sheffield. We are looking for a motivated researcher to join a UKRI Future Leaders Fellowship (FLF)-funded, multidisciplinary project focused on neurodegenerative diseases. The primary aim of our research is to identify the key molecular mechanisms behind protein aggregation pathways involved in the development of neurodegenerative diseases.
For this project, we seek a researcher interested in studying protein aggregation and deposition pathways in neurodegenerative diseases, using human-derived stem cells. The role will involve implementing cutting-edge techniques in single-molecule and super-resolution imaging to explore how protein aggregation pathways influence the functions and dysfunctions observed in Alzheimer’s disease.
Responsibilities will include designing, executing, and evaluating experiments, maintaining meticulous experimental records, contributing to the preparation of scientific manuscripts, and participating in seminars. Expertise in biophysics or biochemistry, or molecular and cellular biology, or single-molecule and super-resolution imaging, will be considered advantageous. A passion for basic research with clinical applications is also desirable.
For informal enquiry regarding this position, please contact Dr Suman De (S.de@sheffield.ac.uk).
This post is fixed-term for 24 months and is available immediately (flexible starting date). There is possibility of extension for further 2-3 years upon extension of Future leader fellowship.
