Future Digital Healthcare Innovation

Revolutionising the health and social care landscape through intelligent, effective and agile digital interventions

The Brunel Fellowship Academy has announced a call for applicants for its second annual intake of IKB Fellows, who will research alongside Brunel academics in summer 2024, supporting the University to help people around the world access digitally-enabled good-quality, affordable and personalised health and social care.

The successful Fellows will:

  • begin or continue high quality collaboration with Brunel academics
  • boost their publications and grant applications
  • raise their profile and expand their network
  • broaden their experience of collaborative and interdisciplinary research.

The short-term fellowships for the Academy’s programme will be available in digital health. Your research could be in one or more of these areas – or other complementary topics:

  • digital technologies for health and social care planning and provision
  • health economics
  • medical sensory data acquisition, fusion and synthetic generation
  • health AI – prediction and explainability
  • medical imaging
  • VR/AR/MR for rehabilitation
  • e-health and remote care
  • health and social care provision in the Metaverse.

Digital health research will be key to delivering a global healthcare system that can enhance health outcomes and provide global citizens with reliable and equitable access to digital health and social care – in line with the WHO’s Global Strategy on Digital Health and Sustainable Development Goal 3 Good Health and Well-Being.

IKB Fellows will have an intensive period of research collaboration with our academics, who have expertise in many areas of health and social care sciences, digital technologies, AI, simulation, health economics and user-centred communities, supported by research facilities including an AI health lab, a rehab VR lab and multimodal sensors.

We are offering strategic, short-term fellowships, open to UK and overseas academics and staff from the NHS, government departments, not-for-profit organisations, industry and business, and open to all levels of seniority.

The Academy will be running for the second consecutive year, and we are seeking to attract around 20 Fellows for a fixed term from Monday 3 June to Friday 6 September 2024.

On-campus accommodation and a per diem allowance will be provided to successful applicants.

Closing date for applications will be: Friday 27 October 2023.

Brunel University London wishes to promote an inclusive and diverse workforce and create a culture that values the contribution of all backgrounds and communities. All employees will be recruited, selected and appointed in line with our equality and diversity policy.
