Applications are invited for a Research Assistant/Associate/Fellow (Qualitative methods) position available to work in a team that is part of the SPECTRUM consortium, a multi-university, multi-agency research consortium focused on the commercial determinants of health and health inequalities funded by the UK Prevention Research Partnership.

The purpose of this role will be to undertake qualitative research contributing to the SPECTRUM work package focussing on the effectiveness of policies, which is led by the University of Nottingham. Projects will include exploring attitudes to tobacco control policies in the UK, and other projects exploring the effectiveness of policies designed to reduce consumption of unhealthy commodities.

You will join an established team, working with Dr Tessa Langley, Dr Ilze Bogdanovica and Professor Rachael Murray, whose main areas of research include tobacco control policy and the evaluation of public health interventions. The main duties will include drafting appropriate documentation and gaining ethical approval(s), recruitment of participants, data collection, data analysis and preparation of manuscripts for peer-reviewed publication. The role will also involve liaising with our existing tobacco and nicotine public engagement group over the course of the project.

There is one post available and depending on qualifications candidates should apply for the Research Assistant role (candidates with a Degree) or the Research Associate/Fellow role (candidates with a PhD (or close to completion). Title will be ‘Research Associate’ where an appointment is made before PhD is completed).

This post is offered on a fixed term basis until 30/09/2024. Hours of work are full-time (36.25 hours) ; however applications are also welcome from candidates wishing to work part-time (minimum 24 hours per week). Please specify in your application if you wish to work part time and the number of preferred hours. Job share arrangements may be considered.

Informal enquiries may be addressed to Tessa.Langley@nottingham.ac.uk. Please note that applications sent directly to this email address will not be accepted.
