We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic Research Fellow/Research Associate (where an appointment is made before PhD is completed) to lead the qualitative workstream for a national multi-centre clinical trial exploring new treatment regimens for primary care asthma management. 

Working collaboratively within our multidisciplinary team, which includes external academic partners, the Nottingham Clinical Trials Unit, and community engagement stakeholders, you will lead the planning and delivery of qualitative interviews with participants in a clinical trial who have asthma and have been recruited from primary care. You will also interview asthma clinical specialists (e.g. nurse specialists and GPs).  

The management of the qualitative workstream forms part of a larger clinical trial being managed by the Nottingham Clinical Trials Unit. The participants will be recruited by the Nottingham Clinical Trials Unit. You will then work with the wider research team to undertake the qualitative interviews and analysis.  

The qualitative work will form part of the main clinical trial data, so you will need to understand mixed-methods research methodologies. 

You will have a PhD or equivalent in a relevant subject area (e.g. public health, primary care, qualitative or social methods), or the equivalent in professional qualifications and experience in research area, or near to completion of a PhD. 

You should have experience of conducting qualitative interviews with members of the public or patients in healthcare settings. You should have demonstrable experience of conducting qualitative analysis. 

Experience of recruiting under-represented groups into research is desirable.

This role is on a fixed-term contract until 30th November 2025. Hours of work are full-time (36.25 hours per week); however applications are also welcome from candidates wishing to work part-time (minimum 14.5 hours per week).
