Overview of the Role

Can you provide technical support to research projects? Do you have a strong interest in healthcare associated infection and a working knowledge of Clostridioides difficile? Do you have strong analytical skills to identify and creatively solve experimental problems?

You will join a laboratory engaged in diverse aspects of Healthcare Associated Infection research, particularly on Clostridioides difficile infection (investigating pathogenesis & virulence of C.difficile), including testing samples for clinical trials. Planning and conducting a programme of experiments in this area, you will also have responsibility for the day-to-day line management of technical staff within the team. You will be encouraged to develop within the role & have access to opportunities for career development.

You will be qualified to degree level (or equivalent) in a relevant subject area and have suitable laboratory &research project experience. Experience of handling anaerobic bacteria, clinical samples and of DNA extraction and quality control of extracted nucleic acids (additional training in specific laboratory techniques will be available) will be essential. You should also have experience of laboratory testing of clinical trial samples to MHRA standards and have undertaken Good Clinical Practise training.
