An opportunity has arisen in the Centre for Medical Education within the School of Medicine for a Lecturer in Advanced Surgical Practice & Pain Management. The role is to provide high-quality, research-informed teaching (and activities relating to teaching), delivering and evaluating modules on both the MSc in Advanced Surgical Practice and the MSc in Pain Management programmes. There is also a requirement to supervise and support PGT students and to carry out academic administrative duties within the programmes as required.

The post holder will also contribute to scholarship and research in the area of Higher Education through participation in conferences, seminars and other academic and professional forums to disseminate the results of individual scholarship. They will also eventually lead specific PGT modules, teaching, learning, assessment, and feedback in their specialty area(s) as directed by the Programme Director to whom they report and the PGT Taught Director.

Applicants should be able to demonstrate a post-graduate qualification, at PhD or level 7 or equivalent (in surgical practice and / or pain management) and be a qualified healthcare professional. Applicants should also have excellent communication and IT skills, to include the ability to present complex and conceptual surgical and pain management concepts clearly and confidently to others, using high-level skills and a range of media.

The post is based on our Heath Park site. The majority of roles at Cardiff University are currently operating under “blended working” arrangements, with staff having the flexibility to work partly from home and partly from the University campus depending on specific business requirements. Discussions around these arrangements can take place after the successful candidate has been appointed.

The position is part time (14 hours per week, work pattern to be agreed), available immediately and is fixed term for 2 years.
 
Salary: 

An appointment will be made subject to skills and experience at:

£39,347 – £44,263 per annum, pro rata for hours worked (Grade 6) or

£49,794 – £54,395 per annum, pro rata for hours worked (Grade 7) 

Appointments to roles at Cardiff University are usually made at bottom of scale unless in exceptional circumstances.
