Postdoctoral Research Assistant at University of Dundee

We are recruiting for an exceptional individual to join us as a Postdoctoral (or equivalent) Research Assistant within the Division of Population Health and Genomics to work on the “Understanding equity of access to best care for people with kidney failure” project funded by the Chief Scientist Office. This centres on the using linked national healthcare datasets to examine how equitable health services are for patients receiving kidney replacement the rapy. This is a fixed-term appointment for 24 months.

The majority of the project will involve management and statistical analysis of linked healthcare data held within the national Safe Haven. There will also be a qualitative aspect with semi-structured interviews and focus groups with training provided for this aspect. This project is based in Dundee and is an exciting collaboration between the Universities of Dundee, Edinburgh and Sydney. This project will feed into Scottish Government policy with engagement of the Scottish Government Scottish Donation and Transplantation Group

The post holder will be part of the Division of Population Health and Genomics – University of Dundee. We support Early Career Researchers, with active mentoring, and a range of relevant training options for scientific and academic development.

Your priorities will include:

• Ensuring all regulatory approvals are in place prior to the start of study activity
• Data management including the transformation and curation of linked datasets
• Planning, programming and completion of advanced data analytics and statistical modelling
• Performing qualitative work
• Leading and contributing to reports, scientific papers and presentations arising from this work

We’re looking for someone with:

• PhD or equivalent higher degree in a relevant subject
• Understanding of mixed methods research
• Experience of data management, including statistical modelling
• Proficiency in programming (e.g. in R/Python)
• Excellent organisational skills
• Previous experience of clinical/epidemiological research
• Excellent written and oral communication skills in English
• Ability to work independently, and as part of a team
