The Role

The Paramedic Education Team within St George’s University medical school is seeking senior lecturers in paramedic education for the 3-year BSc programme.

You will join a dynamic, forward-thinking team with a well-established reputation for high quality education. Lecturers will be primarily involved in the delivery of simulation in the state-of-the-art simulation suite and being part of a marking team. Senior Lecturers will be involved in simulation and modular delivery of the programme, ideally running and managing 30 credit modules. Academics support teaching activities, self-development and the development of others, curriculum development, management, administration, consultancy, professional updating, student counselling and welfare.

You will be working collaboratively with Ambulance Trusts and multi-disciplinary teams from Kingston and St George’s Universities. This role offers the unique opportunity to work with cutting-edge clinical and teaching technology within a dedicated Paramedic Simulation Centre, including two replica ambulances and an immersive suite. This position requires pioneering, enthusiastic and innovative approaches to clinical education, delivering engaging, high quality, contemporary education to future paramedics within our dedicated, experienced and friendly team.

The Person

An experienced, motivated paramedic, registered with the UK HCPC (or for those applying from further afield, in the process of registering). Senior Lecturers will be experienced educators, able to undertake module leadership. An educational pre-requisite such as a PGCE or similar educational qualification is preferable. Those who do not possess this will be asked to undertake a PGCE as part of the expectations of the probationary period. Some experience of research and scholarship in the field of paramedic practice or education will be advantageous. Senior Lecturers will have a research preference. The post of an academic member of staff requires professional commitment and the maintenance of high professional standards.
