We now have a vacancy for a Research Assistant to join the successful trial management team within the PenCTU. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with research experience to join a CTU that has retained full registration station from the UK Clinical Research Collaboration (UKCRC) since 2007. PenCTU has a growing portfolio of studies funded by the NIHR and other major non-commercial research funding bodies.  

We are looking for a suitably experienced individual with enthusiasm, to work on the REFINE study: NeuRopsychiatric REsearch Register For people with Intellectual Disabilities and Epilepsy. This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious social/health researcher to work on a large multi-disciplinary project which will potentially have an impact on treatment for patients with intellectual disabilities. The post presents an excellent opportunity for you to develop your interests and skills in health research and you will work closely with a team of trial managers, data managers, programmers, statisticians, clinicians and other stakeholders to undertake research which will include literature and database searches, data collection, and on occasions investigating complex matters and issues. 

You must have experience of research in a related field and experience of undertaking applied quantitative research projects. Having experience in drafting proposals and applications to external bodies and a record of individual or contributions to research publications would be advantageous. You should have a first degree or equivalent in a health-related subject. You will write fluently, have excellent oral communication skills, demonstrate ability to use initiative in problem-solving and identifying solutions and actions, and be motivated and reliable.

This is a full-time post working up to 37 hrs per week on a fixed-term basis for 18 months due to funding. Hybrid working may be discussed. There may be some travel to NHS sites.  

There is an essential requirement within this role that you will be required to travel to and work at different University sites and/or other business locations that may not be easily accessible by public transport. Please refer to the job description for further information.
