The Institute of Medical Imaging and Visualisation (IMIV) sits within the Department of Medical Science & Public Health of the Faculty of Health & Social Sciences. The faculty is investing in several exciting new positions to further align our teaching and research portfolio toward BU’s 2025 strategic investment in the Medical Sciences. We are working together with the NHS and Dorset Clinical Commissioning Group to realise the joint benefit of a new MRI scanner and other related imaging equipments including ultrasound scanners which are based in Bournemouth University for education and research.
Applications are invited for appointment as Lecturer (Academic) in Medical Imaging on a 1.0 FTE basis. Suitable candidates wishing to work on a lesser FTE basis (for example, while maintaining clinical activity or due to other commitments) and/or job shares will be considered.
As a Lecturer in Medical Imaging you will:
- Have an understanding and experience in one of the following: reporting radiography, ultrasound, CT and/or MRI.
- Hold registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)(or the equivalent) or willingness to obtain this within an agreed period.
- Be involved in the design, development and delivery of teaching and learning in Radiography/medical imaging and related courses across the University, especially the IMIV’s MSc Medical Imaging with Management programme.
- Contribute to the operational activities of the IMIV including supporting the scanning and related activities.
- Have the opportunity to develop your own research interests in a friendly and supportive environment.
Post-graduate research qualifications, or an intention to undertake a higher research degree is a requirement of the role, and we will look to support those wishing to pursue this.
You will be qualified to Doctoral level or be able to demonstrate the ability to create and disseminate knowledge at an equivalent level and the capability to convert this knowledge into a doctorate in a maximum of 3-5 years from date of appointment. You will be research active and committed to a culture of academic excellence and continuous improvement.
