Short summary
Dr Vinuesa’s laboratory focuses on understanding the regulation of protective antibody responses and the mechanisms underpinning antibody-mediated diseases. The research aims to unravel the pathogenesis of autoimmune and allergic diseases, and the processes that control the quality of antibody responses. The goal is to improve the outcomes of patients with autoimmune disorders (AID) with a particular focus on systemic autoimmune diseases like lupus.
The Vinuesa laboratory is seeking a highly motivated research scientist to advance a translational research program that aims to develop a new therapeutic for B cell mediated autoimmune disease. The lab has secured funding for this project and the position is for 1 year initially. The post-holder would be part of a multidisciplinary team of experts including structural, cellular, and molecular biologists, clinicians, and the head of translation at the Crick. The candidate would be expected to work collaboratively with this team and under the guidance of a senior scientist running the project.
The project will involve planning and conducting experiments both in vivo and in vitro.
Key Responsibilities
- Undertake laboratory research, developing the assigned projects in a timely and resource efficient manner (design and execute experiments, collect, and analyse data)
- Make research initiatives and original contributions to the research programme wherever possible, and to contribute freely to the team research environment in a manner conducive to the success of the research project.
- Provide technical input for the development, refinement and troubleshooting of relevant methodologies.
- Attend and participate in the lab’s academic activities, e.g. laboratory and journal club meetings, research group meetings and wider network meetings
- Participate in manuscript and funding grant proposal development.
