About the Role
We are seeking a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Epidemiology to undertake research on the relation between toxic metals (lead, cadmium and arsenic) and health outcomes (lung function, blood pressure, cognitive function) in children and young adults across four English cohorts, under the supervision of Professor Seif Shaheen.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the merging of new laboratory data with existing data from each of the cohorts (Avon Longitudinal Study of Parents and Children (ALSPAC), Born in Bradford (BiB), Determinants of Adolescent Social well-being and Health (DASH), Children’s Health in London and Luton (CHILL)), and then analysing associations between toxic metal exposures and health outcomes.

About You
You will have a PhD in statistics or epidemiology, and /or relevant professional qualification and / or equivalent professional experience, and an undergraduate degree in a relevant subject. Considerable experience of quantitative epidemiological analysis is essential, along with an appropriate publication record for level of entry. You will also have fluency in statistical programming using Stata or R package and a strong understanding of the research process.

The Wolfson Institute of Population Health (WIPH) harnesses expertise across a wide range of population-based research and education activities and is an internationally recognised centre of excellence in population health and preventive medicine. The WIPH comprises six separate research centres, one of which is the Centre for Preventive Neurology.

The post holder will be based in the Centre for Preventive Neurology – Wolfson Institute of Population Health, Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry – Queen Mary University of London. This position is fixed-term for 24 months, starting 1st April 2024. The starting salary will be Grade 4, in the range of £40,223 – £44,722 per annum, inclusive of London Allowance.
