Lecturer in Osteopathy at Swansea University

Location: Singleton Park Campus and Central Swansea Health Clinic

The School is currently pursuing an exciting and innovative strategy of expanding its multi professional programme provision.  As part of this the School has a well-established and successfully validated undergraduate M.Ost programme, which continues to attract increasing numbers of students. This programme, the only one of its kind in Wales provides a platform for innovative Osteopathic teaching and research, and we are now looking to add to our dynamic osteopathic team.  

We are looking for an individual who is registered with the General Osteopathy Council (GOsC) as a practising osteopath and have considerable experience in post graduate osteopathic clinical practice. Who can significantly enhance our student learning experience through teaching and continuing development of the curriculum.

The successful candidate will be given support to further their academic and professional development Teaching Delivery and Review as well as the below:

• Effective delivery of the teaching, assessment and quality assurance of modules or other equivalent components of the taught portfolio. Reviewing course content and materials, and developing, designing and updating materials in compliance with quality standards.
• Teaching Innovation and Impact: Deliver innovative teaching, which is up to date and informed by research or personal practice.
• Esteem: Contribute to the wider academic community with demonstrable impact and recognition from internal and external sources. Contribute to institutional teaching impact.
• Advancing Practice: Responsibility for advancing teaching practice for self and others.
• Contributing to our Activities: Take part in formulating College or University decisions and contributing to activities beyond the immediate research, teaching or scholarship commitments.
• Participating in Professional Activities: Engage with professional activities related to the discipline through networking at conferences or involvement in external groups.
• Managing Self and Others: Support and enable the development of colleagues, students and/or yourself.
• Research Outputs and Activity: Disseminate research findings through appropriate written, oral or other media both internally and externally to the University.

The successful candidate will have:

• A degree / diploma in Osteopathy and relevant professional experience. Registered with the General Osteopathic Council
• Recognised teaching qualification that would lead to Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy (HEA) or a commitment to achieve this
• Evidence of the effective delivery of teaching and assessment
• Undertaking teaching material review and responding to feedback from colleagues or students.
• The ability to be an effective tutor or student project supervision with successful outcomes
• Evidence of teaching innovation and a commitment to CPD
• Contributing to the academic community, internally or externally with recognition from peers.
• Evidence of or ability to disseminate research findings through appropriate written, oral or other media both within the institution and externally

A satisfactory DBS certificate must be provided before a start date can be confirmed
