We have an exciting opportunity for a Principal Clinical Research Fellow to join our team. The post will be based at the Mortimer Market Centre with strong links to Professor Maryam Shahmanesh and her interdisciplinary and innovative programme of developing and evaluating complex biosocial interventions for HIV prevention and sexual health amongst adolescents and youth at the Africa Health Research Institute, where she is the Director of Implementation Science.

About the role

This is a strategically important post which aims to provide an emerging research leader the time and mentorship of Professor Shahmanesh to generate their own funding and deliver a programme of clinical or implementation research in any of the following areas: HIV, blood borne viruses, sexually transmitted infections, infectious disease, sexual health, or adolescent health. The postholder is expected to undertake high-quality, clinically-relevant implementation research, develop a research agenda in HIV, blood borne viruses, sexually transmitted infections, infectious disease, sexual health, public health, or adolescent health, and publish high-quality ongoing research in peer reviewed journals.

This is a fixed-term, five-year appointment.

Salary range: £93,666 – £99,532 per annum, depending on experience.

About you

This post is an unprecedented career development opportunity for an excellent and emerging clinical leader. The post holder should have a higher academic degree e.g. MD/MS or PhD (or in final stages of preparation), or evidence of an equivalent level of attainment in research publications. They should be on the entry on the GMC Specialist Register or be within six months of obtaining a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT), or equivalent, in an appropriate speciality. The post holder should have a proven research experience in any of the following areas: HIV, blood borne viruses, sexually transmitted infections, infectious disease, sexual health, public health, or adolescent health.
