Background
The Department of Optometry & Visual Sciences in the School of Health and Psychological Sciences combines academic excellence at undergraduate and postgraduate level with a research-active body of academics and PhD students. It has a national and international reputation in applied vision research, and in the quality of the teaching provided by its renowned academic staff.
The department is seeking to appoint a part time, 0.2 FTE Research Assistant for 5 months to work on a research project funded by the Participatory Research Fund and Thomas Pocklington Trust entitled ‘’Investigating the Impact of Lived Experience, delivered through people diagnosed with learning disabilities and/or autism, on the attitudes and awareness of eye care providers’’
The project is a collaboration between City, University of London and SeeAbility.
Responsibilities
The research assistant post provides a unique opportunity to work on an exciting study alongside charity, academic partners and individuals with lived experience of learning disabilities and autism. The successful candidate will conduct focus group interviews and survey eye care professionals as well as help with data analysis.
Person Specification
The successful candidate will possess a Master’s degree in optometry, psychology or a related subject and have an excellent understanding of qualitative research tools and analysis. They will possess excellent communication and organisational skills, and be able to work independently and as part of a team.
