The Multi-Professional Education Team within St George’s University medical school is seeking lecturers and senior lecturers in post-registration education to support delivery of multi-professional programmes, including Advanced Clinical Practice.

You will join a forward-thinking, multi-disciplinary lecturing team with a well-established reputation for high quality education. You will benefit from well-established expertise in undergraduate and postgraduate degree education, and will be expected to take an active and developing role, ideally including module and potentially pathway leadership. Academics support teaching activities, self-development and the development of others, curriculum development, management, administration, consultancy, professional updating, student counselling and welfare.

You will be working collaboratively with Primary Care providers, Physiotherapy services, Ambulance Trusts, Hospital Trusts, and multi-disciplinary teams from St George’s University, working across clinical disciplines to support post-registration AHP development. This position requires pioneering, enthusiastic, and innovative approaches to clinical education, delivering engaging, high quality, contemporary education to registered clinicians within our dedicated, experienced and friendly team. 

The Person

An experienced, motivated UK registered Nurse or Allied Health Professional. We would particularly welcome applications from Advanced Clinical Practitioners, Specialist or Advanced Physiotherapist, Nurses Practitioners, Midwives, and Physiotherapists, though will also consider applicants from other Allied Health professions who are registered healthcare professionals. You will bring high clinical standards together with an understanding of higher education in the paramedic and/or Allied Health professions. A proven track record of learning, teaching and assessment in higher education or trust education and mentorship would be desirable, though development opportunities will be provided. You will be expected obtain a PGCHE or equivalent in teaching and learning together with registration with the HEA once employed if you do not already possess this qualification. Some experience of research and scholarship in your chosen field would be desirable to succeed in this role. 

Centre for Allied Health

The Centre for Allied Health is located alongside St George’s hospital in Tooting and integrated across the higher education and health sectors. The Centre includes a variety of disciplines, including paramedic science, diagnostic radiography, radiotherapy, physiotherapy, and occupational therapy, as well as having links to medicine at St George’s. 

Further information

This role is primarily based at our site in Tooting, with the potential for occasional remote working.

The salary is competitive and negotiable dependent upon experience and skills of the successful applicant.

Positions available:

  • Full Time Equivalent (equivalent to 5 working days) with fractional permanent contracts available.

Essential:

  • Registered Medical Professional with HCPC, NMC, or GMC
  • Minimum of BSc in chosen profession
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience post registration
  • Passion for delivering a great service and supporting learners
  • Strong organisational, time-management and communication skills
  • Enthusiasm and personal initiative
  • Caring, passionate, and supportive 

Desirable:

  • Experience in Musculoskeletal therapy
  • Master’s degree in chosen field or education
  • PGCHE
  • Previous educational experience
  • Research experience
