CU Scarborough has been established by Coventry University Group as a new campus in North Yorkshire to provide high quality, student centric, career focused higher education on the Yorkshire Coast, a recognised HE cold spot.  It also provides a base to serve the wider region. CU Scarborough works in close collaboration with a number of partners including a range of employers.  It operates through one of Coventry University’s wholly owned subsidiaries (Coventry University College Ltd.) and is supported by the wider group infrastructure. Our new purpose built facilities opened in September 2016 located at the heart of Scarborough’s brand new circa £50 million education and sports campus.

As Tutor in Health you will be responsible for providing students with high quality and effective learning through the provision of teaching, curriculum development and tutorials, using an innovative approach of learning lead and focused on students. You will also support the development of the subject area by ensuring a class leading student experience is provided and is a sustainable offer to current and future students and aligned to both employer and student demands.

The Role

Tutors will be responsible for ensuring that students have a high quality and effective learning experience through provision of teaching, curriculum development and tutorials using innovative approaches that are learning led and focused on students. They also play a wider role in helping to develop their subject area ensuring a class leading student experience and a sustainable offer that is aligned to both employer and student demand.  Tutors will play a key role in helping to attract new students.

Qualifications Required 

Essential: 

Master’s degree in an appropriate subject OR (if from a professional practice background) a good Honours Degree and appropriate professional qualification and/or membership

Willingness to acquire a teaching qualification if not already held.

Advantageous: 

PhD

Active membership of an appropriate professional body

Our Successful Candidate 

You will be responsible for the development and delivery of learning, teaching and assessment of the course, including the development updating of the module material and ensuring all course support material is updated on the virtual learning environment. 

You will demonstrate good practice in learning, teaching and assessment and will use these skills to engage students, stimulate interest in the subject and encourage class attendance by validating the value class participation provides. You will provide students with an effective learning experience by providing high quality academic guidance and advice.

You will contribute to quality monitoring, the enhancement and continuous improvement of the curriculum and teaching provision provided to ensure a quality student experience. 

You will engage in professional development and hold an active membership of related professional bodies to ensure you keep up to date with developments in your field and ensure your teaching is informed by modern professional practice.
