We are seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Assistant to join an Oxford-led programme to develop gene therapies for cardiomyopathy, funded by the British Heart Foundation (CureHeart; www.bhf.org.uk/cureheart) in partnership with a leading patient support group, Cardiomyopathy UK. To inform responsible implementation of gene therapy for cardiomyopathy, this work will include 1. understanding which patients might be offered participation in gene therapy trials; 2. understanding the range of patient experiences through qualitative research. We will work with the Dipex Charity (dipexcharity.org/about-us) to produce extracts from patient interviews on the healthtalk.org website. Outputs will also include peer-reviewed publications.

 

You will work on a project of international significance reporting to the Principal Investigator. You will play a key role in delivery of this project and will have the opportunity to co-supervise Masters Student research. Other duties include working with the clinical teams to promote patient study participation and identifying and recruiting participants or research studies.

You are required to hold a relevant PhD/Dphil (or equivalent) or close to completion (Medical Sociology/Social Sciences/Psychology/Genetic counselling/Nursing) and have clinical research experience. Previous experience of contributing to publications/presentations would be desirable.

This is a full time appointment on a fixed term contract for 1 years and you will be based at the John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford, OX3 9DU.
