Open-ended contract – Permanent: Part time – 10.5 hours per week

We are looking for a part-time, experienced science communication/public engagement practitioner who uses social media on a daily basis in their professional role and who is interested in teaching on an MSc programme.

The opportunity:

This is an opportunity to become a member of a dynamic teaching team for science communication/public engagement at the University of Edinburgh. You will be involved in teaching, assessment, dissertation supervision and marking, primarily for the on-campus programme. The main teaching opportunity has a focus on social media for science communication and is primarily for the on-campus programme. You may also be required to assist in additional teaching for undergraduate science communication courses on-campus. An MSc in Science Communication OR specialist knowledge in science communication and public engagement theory and practice is essential. Also essential is experience of using social media in a science communication/public engagement context. A higher degree is essential. It would be preferable to have some experience of teaching in Higher Education. IT expertise is required along with good interpersonal skills. The post requires flexibility around weekly working hours across semesters.
