ARC Dementia Fellow – Clinical Post, Postdoctoral Research Fellow 

Do you have a strong research background, clinical experience, and an interest in delivering services for people living with Dementia? If so this exciting new post which combines research and clinical practice may be an excellent opportunity for you.

As an ARC Dementia Fellow, you will join the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Applied Research Collaboration (ARC) for Kent Surrey and Sussex. The post, which is based at the Centre of Health Services Studies at the University of Kent in Canterbury and in close collaboration with the Kent and Medway Medical School, is focused on clinical research, allowing clinical post-holders to continue clinical care and research in combination. 

You will work closely with Professor Sukhi Shergill and Dr Jo Rodda (Senior Lecturer) based at Kent and Medway Medical School (KMMS) and Professor Stephen Peckham, Director of the Centre for Health Services Studies (CHSS), University of Kent. You will also work closely with Professor Naji Tabet within the Living Well with Dementia Theme of ARC KSS. 

As a ARC Dementia Fellow you will:

  • Develop, deliver and disseminate high-quality research relevant to the ARC KSS Living Well with Dementia portfolio, and in particular to the “Integration of services for a seamless ‘patient journey’” area of interest.
  • Engage in individual and/or collaborative research activity resulting in high-quality publications.
  • Work collaboratively with the ARC KSS personnel and with other national Dementia post docs across the national NIHR ARC network.
  • Option to continue practicing clinical care for Dementia up to 0.4FTE of the role at Kent and Medway NHS and Social Care Partnership Trust. 

To be successful in this role you will have: 

  • A PhD, or equivalent (e.g. MD, DClin etc) in Dementia research or a relevant subject.
  • Experience with quantitative and/or qualitative research methods.
  • Understanding of dementia and regional care provision for those living with dementia.
  • Evidence of ability to write research reports, journal articles, and other written outputs.
