Who we are looking for:

You will be an experienced, HCPC Registered Speech and Language Therapist with specialist clinical and academic knowledge relating to acquired speech, language and communication disorders, specifically relating to acquired motor speech disorders and communication disorders with a neurological basis.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Extensive clinical experience and experience of working with students in training.
  • Knowledge of current evidence-based practice and research in the field.

Key responsibilities of the role:

This post will support the provision of speech and language therapy pre-registration education at Marjon and will be part of our growing School of Health and Wellbeing including other AHP programmes.

The position of lecturer consists of a range of teaching and learning activities supporting students across the programme and related departmental activities such as recruitment (including open days and interviews).  You will be required to work as part of a team of academics and practitioners across the school from various professional backgrounds and demonstrate the ability to teach professional education and clinical skills to the highest standards. You will also undertake a range of student supervision/tutoring duties.

You will be expected to contribute to the University’s research and knowledge exchange activities through your own research and by supporting undergraduate and postgraduate student research.

You will need to enjoy:

  • Working closely with students, academic and professional colleagues.
  • Devising, developing and delivering a diverse range of teaching, learning and assessment activities.
  • Supporting students’ professional development.

Where you’ll work:

In this role, you will be part of the Speech and Language Therapy department on our green campus in the north of Plymouth. The University has a well-established reputation for its taught programme in Speech and Language Therapy and has a thriving SLT clinic on site. There will be opportunities for you to support student learning and clinical practice in this setting.

Our current hybrid working policy means you can work from home or on campus, but you will need to maintain strong campus links and be available on-site when needed.

For an informal discussion about the role please contact Alex Mallinson, Programme Lead, at amallinson@marjon.ac.uk or on 01752 636700 x7088.
