We are seeking to recruit two postdoctoral Research Associates for a three-year project on the neural processing of space and direction in freely behaving rodents, working with Professor Kate Jeffery.

The project involves tetrode-based electrophysiology and/or microendoscopy in exploring and navigating rats and mice, and also has the potential for optogenetics and other mechanistic investigations to understand how perceptual information is transformed into a cognitive understanding of space. There is the potential for input into project development, as well as extension beyond the three years (contingent on funding). The local research community has skills in in vitro and in vivo cellular and behavioural neuroscience as well as neuroimaging in animals and humans, enabling many collaborative possibilities.

Applicants should have a PhD or equivalent research experience, plus a track record of presentation and publication of research results in quality conferences/journals.

The University of Glasgow is one of the world’s top 100 universities and a member of the UK’s research-intensive Russell Group. As well as having a vibrant and growing academic community, the university is also located in a beautiful setting with many local cafes, shops, pubs and restaurants, and there is a thriving cultural scene in the city. Scotland’s famously stunning lochs and mountains are nearby, and easily accessible by rail or car.
