Full Time – 35 hours per week

Fixed term contract duration: 36 months from September 2023

The opportunity:

You will support the project via leadership of qualitative research on community-based care for pesticide poisoning in Sri Lanka, and contributions to research on the development and testing of point-of-care tests for methadone poisoning in Bangladesh and India. You will undertake fieldwork in Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.

Your skills and attributes for success:

  • A PhD (or equivalent) in social anthropology specialising in medical anthropology, or closely aligned area, either awarded or submitted within 3 months of application date. 
  • Demonstrable post-doctoral or equivalent work experience, particularly on anthropology of health systems and/or toxicology in South Asia, and of conducting anthropological fieldwork in South Asia, including familiarity with a variety of qualitative methods, and postdoctoral experience relevant to the project. 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including team working and a collaborative, collegiate approach, and the ability to establish and maintain personal working relationships with colleagues. 
  • Excellent critical analysis skills and ability to communicate complex information clearly, orally and in writing, as demonstrated by published and/or unpublished work. 
  • Demonstrable understanding of ethical frameworks and a commitment to good governance practices for research
