Julie Bishop has snapped a selfie with music star Lionel Richie ahead of the King’s coronation.

Ms Bishop revealed to her followers that she was seated next to the superstar, who is a global ambassador for the Prince’s Trust.

The pair could be seen chatting animatedly before the ceremony began.

Earlier, Ms Bishop stunned onlookers in a jaw-dropping designer outfit.

The former foreign minister, who chairs the Princes Trust in Australia, was flying the flag for Australian designers in a gorgeous outfit by Sydney-based designer label Zimmerman complete with eye-catching hat.

“I’m excited about attending today the coronation of their Majesties,” Ms Bishop said outside Westminster Abbey.

“I chair the Prince’s Trust in Australia and it’s also a wonderful opportunity to highlight the great work of King Charles around the world in two countries with employment and education So, it’s an amazing opportunity.”

When asked who her “top spot” at Westminster Abbey would be, she said: “My top spot in the Abbey…obviously their Majesties,” she said.

Earlier, Ms Bishop’s rumoured love interest Luke Hepworth was nowhere in sight as she revealed her plus one for King Charles’ coronation.

Julie Bishop stuns at Coronation

The aspiring Instagram influencer revealed her companion for the big occasion on her favourite social platform.

“My Plus One for the Coronation in London. We at Prince’s Trust Australia are thrilled that Tayla Green-Aldridge, a proud young Wiradjuri and Yuin woman from NSW and a recent graduate of @princes.trust.au ‘Get into Maritime’ employment program, will be joining me inside Westminster Abbey on Saturday 6 May,” Ms Bishop wrote on Instagram beside a photo of the pair.

“Her first trip overseas, in fact her first time on an aeroplane, Tayla is taking London – and the Australian media – in her stride! Congratulations to all Prince’s Trust alumni who will be witnessing this historic occasion.

JULIE BISHOP GETS CORONATION PARTY STARTED EARLY

Julie Bishop got the party started early in a $2,200 designer frock for at the coronation banquet.

The former foreign Minister turned aspirational Instagram influencer hit the town on the eve of King Charles’ coronation at London’s Guildhall, posting snaps alongside former Australian High Commissioner to the UK George Brandis.

She tagged the brand of Sydney designer Nicky Zimmermann to promote the floral tiered skirt she rocked at the glitzy gala to her 106,000 followers.

Bishop, 66, was invited to the historic ceremony as chair of the Prince’s Trust Australia, a national charity founded in 2013 by then-Prince Charles that helps young people get into work, inspires veterans and their families to start their own businesses; and champions resilient sustainable communities. Earlier, Bishop posted pictures from Prince’s Trust Coronation Celebration at Christie’s.

She revealed her official invitation on, of course, Instagram, saying she was “honoured” to be invited.

“I will be present at Westminster Abbey on Saturday 6 May 2023 at 11am to witness the coronation of Their Majesties King Charles III and Queen Camilla – history in the making.”

She’s one of about 2,000 guests and will join fellow Australians including 18-year-old Tayla Green-Aldridge, who graduated from the Prince’s Trust Australia’s Get into Maritime program.

For a former foreign Minister, the London jaunt is the latest in a series of foreign trips following a recent New York City sting where she Instagram herself gallivanting at the Gansevoort, which costs up to $2,814 per night.

“I have just walked from the Upper East Side to the Meatpacking District. It’s a very different vibe here,” Ms Bishop said.

“I’m staying at the exceedingly cool Gansevoort hotel, which is just behind me. I’m really going forward to it.”
