Job Summary

General practitioners who have gained their CCT are invited to apply for the post of Principal Clinical Teaching Fellow in Primary Care Design, Evaluation and Assessment within the multi-award winning Undergraduate Primary Care Education team (UPCE), one of the UK’s largest teams of its kind with an exemplary national reputation for curricular innovation in the Department of Primary Care and Public Health, within the School of Public Health (SPH) in the Faculty of Medicine at Imperial College London. Academic General Practice is a major contributor to teaching within the Faculty of Medicine. UPCE works with over 500 GPs to deliver teaching across multiple clinical placements in 5 of the 6 years of the Imperial’s MBBS programme.

General Practice is a flexible, innovative and continually evolving environment that rapidly adapts to technological advances, new challenges and fresh opportunities. Undergraduate GP teaching must constantly develop and adapt to keep in step with such changes and to ensure the continued availability and validity of training experience. The postholder will work closely with the UPCE team and Imperial College School of Medicine (ICSM) to contribute to the development, implementation and evaluation of educational innovations, virtual clinical experiences and primary care-based clinical learning and assessment activities within undergraduate primary care placements. In addition, the ICSM curriculum has a number of novel placements which allow for the teaching of longitudinal and cross-sectional themes across all years of the course. Key to this is the integration of teaching of core concepts (including digital health, diagnostics and  pathology) with a strong primary care focus. The postholder will work with Primary Care Course Leads and ICSM Theme Leads to ensure this primary care focus is fully represented across the ICSM curriculum.

This is an exciting opportunity for those interested in developing a career in medical education. At the end of the post, the postholder will have gained a wide range of educational experience and skills which will equip them for further medical education roles.
