Contract type: Fixed term – until 29/12/2023

Interview date: TBC

The School of Human Sciences has recently relocated in the fantastic and newly refurbished Dreadnought building on the World Heritage site at the Old Royal Naval College, Greenwich. This move, along with the creation of new laboratory facilities, is part of a significant investment in the School and part of a long-term plan to build internationally leading research and teaching in the Faculty. As part of this investment, we are looking to appoint a public health professional to help grow and develop the School.

You will be joining a School and Faculty that is building a strong interdisciplinary and cross-professional approach to solving the grand challenges facing society. We are looking for colleagues who will have a commitment to maintaining and building the University’s excellence in teaching and learning, and who are doing research that has the potential for significant long-term academic and societal impact.

We welcome applications from individuals with interest in any area of Public Health. This reflects our already strong coverage of core curriculum areas and clear research interest groups. We would particularly encourage applications from those with an interest in one or more of the following areas:

  • Housing Policy and Practice
  • Epidemiology and Statistics
  • Environmental Health / Health Protection

As a Faculty we also welcome candidates whose research work will resonate with one or more new interdisciplinary Faculty Research Centres within the newly formed Institute for Life course Development:

  • The Centre for Chronic Illness and Ageing
  • The Centre for Inequalities
  • The Centre for Mental Health
  • The Centre for Professional Workforce Development
  • The Centre for Thinking and Learning
  • The Centre for Vulnerable Children and Families

We are looking to attract individuals with a strong profile who are able to demonstrate commitment to teaching excellence and innovation and want to develop their record of research. Candidates would be expected to have a PhD. All candidates must demonstrate a commitment to developing their profile of international-quality publications, together with appropriate experience in teaching in the HE sector for this level.

We aim to be an equal opportunities employer and welcome applications from all sections of the community.

Informal enquiries can be made to Dr Charlotte Jeavons, Head of School. C.Jeavons@gre.ac.uk

Should you have any recruitment-related queries please contact the HR Recruitment Team at hrsr-feh@gre.ac.uk

We are looking for people who can help us deliver our mission of transforming lives through inspired teaching and research, through our values.

The university welcomes people from diverse and underrepresented communities who can help the university to achieve its mission.

We do this through taking positive action such as encouraging applications from Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic, disabled and LGBT+ people. As part of our commitment to Equality, Diversity and Inclusion, Time to Change Employer Pledge/Mentally Healthy Universities, we are committed to promoting and supporting the physical and mental health of all our staff and removing barriers to improve inclusion.

We encourage applicants to disclose experience of mental health problems so we can support them fully during our recruitment process and make any necessary reasonable adjustments. Any information disclosed will be kept confidential and separate from the job application form.

We are making significant strides to understand and continuously improve our employees’ experience and we are committed to implementing progressive diversity talent management.
