Clinical Senior Lecturer/Honorary Consultant in Medical Oncology at University of Glasgow

We have an exciting opportunity for a Clinical Senior Lecturer/Honorary Consultant in Medical Oncology. You will develop a programme of experimental medicine and drug development investigation that may include commercial and non-commercial histology-independent (including first-in-human) clinical trials; solid tumour cellular therapies; tumour-specific early phase trials in keeping with the strategic priorities of the School of Cancer Sciences, the Glasgow ECMC, and NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde.

You will lead and contribute to research of international standard, high quality teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate level, and providing academic leadership and management within the School.  You will also take a leading role in clinical drug development, and with an interest in a specific tumour type in keeping with the strategic priorities of the School and the research interests of the successful candidate.

The School of Cancer Sciences (SCS) is part of the College of Medical, Veterinary, & Life Sciences at the University of Glasgow and carries out world-leading research on the molecular basis of cancer and how this can be exploited therapeutically. In partnership with the CR-UK Beatson Institute, the School has 51 research groups in state-of-the-art research buildings with technologies that underpin our key research themes, providing excellent facilities for a programme of clinical and translational cancer research in Glasgow.

The School is a major partner in the CR-UK Scotland Centre that receives £12 million from CR-UK between Glasgow and Edinburgh in the current quinquennium (2022-2027). The Glasgow Adult ECMC (£2.23 million; 2023-2028) is a partnership between the University of Glasgow and NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde and is the pathway to clinical development and delivery of novel discoveries emerging from our basic science and pre-clinical research programmes within the broader Glasgow cancer research environment, including the CR-UK Scotland Centre and the Glasgow CR-UK RadNet Centre. Together, the Centre and the ECMC develop, lead, and deliver non-commercial clinical studies through exploiting the exceptional discovery science within Glasgow.

We welcome applications from candidates who hold a Scottish Credit and Qualification Framework Level 12 with a clinical research background that includes a PhD or MD (postgraduate) in a subject-related area with an extensive and established reputation in current research within the field demonstrating a depth of knowledge and understanding as to promote the development of new knowledge within the field.
