December 2, 2022 – The Honourable Mary Ng, Minister of International Trade, Export Promotion, Small Business and Economic Development, will visit Japan between December 4 and 8, 2022, to participate in the Asia-Pacific Foundation of Canada’s Second Women-Only Trade Mission to Japan.

During this visit, Minister Ng will engage with key business leaders on advancing women’s economic empowerment and opportunities to better support women and other traditionally underrepresented groups in the business community.

Minister Ng will meet with Minister Goto Shigeyuki, Minister Responsible for the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP), and Minister Nishimura Yasutoshi, Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry to discuss Canada and Japan’s shared trade priorities, including the CPTPP, and opportunities for more partnership in the areas of energy, critical minerals and food.

Minister Ng will also meet with key Canadian and Japanese business leaders operating in Japan to strengthen engagement with Japan and with the region through the Indo-Pacific Strategy.

The visit will also include the opening ceremony of the Canadian Trade Office in Fukuoka. Minister Ng will attend the ceremony to celebrate this milestone in Canada’s engagement with Japan.
