The Patil lab at the MRC Toxicology Unit is looking to appoint two motivated researchers to join their team working on an ERC funded project on modulation of microbial communities. We are a diverse team of researchers spanning multiple scientific disciplines, including microbiology, metabolomics, mathematical modelling, and bioinformatics. We are looking for a microbial geneticist and a mass-spectrometrist (metabolomics) to join our lab. The project will focus on investigating microbiome interactions using genetic and omics tools. We are particularly interested in candidates enthusiastic for combining high-throughput screening with mechanistic follow-ups.

The MRC Toxicology Unit offers excellent research infrastructure and support for personal development. Candidates will be encouraged to bring their own ideas to the project and learn new skills, for example, in metabolomics and data analysis.

Candidates should have a PhD in a relevant discipline such as genetic engineering or molecular biology and have a strong background in microbial genetic engineering. A good publication record in peer-reviewed journals is required.
