The Role
Applications are invited for a Senior Research Associate to work as an integral part of the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) Applied Research Collaboration (ARC) North East and North Cumbria, you will lead collaborative research and capacity building and act as a strategic connector between the University and the NIHR Health Determinants Research Collaboration (HDRC) in Gateshead Local Authority.

A key feature of this role is to act as a Research Broker working across a wide range of organisational and professional boundaries, strengthening collaborative links between academic, policy and practice partners.

You will take a lead role in generating research evidence (including grants and publications) and mobilising knowledge focused on wider determinants of health.

You will have the skills to lead a substantive programme of research work that addresses health inequalities.

You will be productive, self-motivated and have excellent communication and writing skills with the ability to lead and support research bids. A relevant Master’s degree and PhD are essential.

We are looking to appoint an individual with the skills to work with collaborators from other disciplines and be able to supervise junior staff including PhD students. We are seeking an individual who can demonstrate the ability to lead and develop research within agreed timelines, meeting project milestones and producing work of high quality. The post will require travel across the region and UK and potentially beyond the UK.

Full-time or job share – one full-time post is available, fixed-term for four years.
