The Community Based Medical Education (CBME) team seeks to appoint 2 TCD Tutors to deliver Themed Case Discussion small group teaching in Year 4 of the MBChB programme.

The post is suitable for a GP keen to gain experience in academic work and Medical Education.

The MBChB programme is an integrated curriculum with Years 1 and 2 delivering the basic sciences that underpin the foundations of medicine and including Early Clinical Experience. Years 3 and 4 emphasise learning through clinical experience. The final year integrates learning from the previous years and prepares students for practice. Students are educated at the University and in NHS facilities across the North West of England and North Wales.

In Year 4 there are 8 specialty clinical blocks, one of which is a four week block in General Practice. This consists of three or four days in General Practice and half a day in structured classroom teaching. Students will be expected to complete on-line learning cases each week, in preparation for the small group structured teaching on Friday.  Experienced GP tutors in all four Community Based Learning Environments and North Wales will deliver the structured teaching, with teaching groups taking place in Manchester, Blackburn, Salford, North Wales, Preston and Crewe. The teaching will be based on the online learning that students complete before the session, and be delivered using detailed tutor notes. Teaching is delivered face to face across 4 hours on a Friday morning. Year 4 teaching spans eight four-week blocks from September to May, with short breaks for the Winter and Spring Vacations.

These posts are available in the locations of Preston and Crewe.
