We are seeking a highly motivated Cardiac Physiologist to join the Oxford Cardiovascular Clinical Research Facility (CCRF), one of the core clinical research facilities of the University of Oxford. The facility was set up by the Division of Cardiovascular Medicine with the aim to ‘make it easy to undertake world leading cardiovascular clinical research within Oxford’. Since opening in 2010 CCRF has grown rapidly to support >100 studies with >1000 participants passing through the facility each year.

The main objective of the cardiac physiology post is to support the rapidly expanding programmes of innovative research within CCRF that require echocardiography and cardiopulmonary exercise testing support and to support the clinical activity in the Oxford University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust clinical echocardiography department. To maintain skills across the spectrum of pathologies and clinics, the post holder will spend 50% of their time scanning patients in the Oxford University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust clinical echocardiography department and the other 50% in CCRF. You will provide echocardiography expertise, skills and support to a range of clinical trials and clinical research studies within the facility. These studies involve participants and patients of various ages, pathologies, and demographics.

You will be required to hold a BSc in clinical physiology or other relevant scientific discipline and have a background of significant experience including independent echocardiography scanning and reporting, the ability to share unexpected findings with clinicians, and to function independently in both primary and secondary care. Experience in doing cardiopulmonary exercise testing would be desirable.

This is a full time appointment on a fixed term contract for 3 years and you will be based at the Cardiovascular Clinical Research Facility, Level 1, John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford, OX3 9DU.

Applications for this vacancy are to be made online; you will be required to upload a CV and supporting statement which explains how you meet the selection criteria for the post.

Only applications received before 12.00 midday on 5th July 2023 can be considered. Interviews are scheduled to place in the middle of July.

The University is an Equal Opportunity Employer
