Canada has announced $11 million in funding for humanitarian and development assistance to help people affected by the conflict in Ukraine.

This funding is being distributed as follows.

Humanitarian assistance

Humanity and Inclusion: $2 million
Canada’s support will address the health, protection and basic needs of conflict-affected populations, with specific focus on internally displaced persons, refugees, persons with disabilities/injuries or with signs of psychological distress.

Development assistance

UN Population Fund (UNFPA): $7 million
Doubling Canada’s contribution to its programming, this support aims to increase security and protection from sexual and gender-based violence for women and girls in Ukraine by supporting a prevention and response system in municipalities and communities across the country. This includes the operation of mobile teams to provide psychosocial support, establishing 18 safe spaces for women and girls across the country, and providing 5,000 dignity kits and female essential packs to 6 cities across Ukraine.

Support to dairy cooperative: $2 million
This support will go toward completing the construction of a modern cooperative-managed dairy processing plant in western Ukraine.
