About the Role

Social Work and Wellbeing is a well-established and successful department within the Faculty of Health, Social Care and Medicine. The current portfolio of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes have experienced a growth in popularity over recent years, reflected in an increase in applications. These are contemporary and exciting programmes which aim to develop graduates who are highly employable and well equipped to work in the field of health and social care. 

The department is dynamic, forward thinking, innovative and research active with a variety of counselling, psychotherapy and mental health qualifications. Our suite of programmes offer diverse opportunities for our students, whilst the diverse backgrounds of the academic team complement each other, leading to a collaborative and academically stimulating learning environment for both students and staff. 

You will be expected to contribute to the research activities of one of our Research Units and meet the qualitative and qualitative requirements for submission to the next Research Excellence exercise.

About You

You will be an enthusiastic and friendly professional with excellent communication and interpersonal skills coupled with a commitment to providing an excellent student experience. An established or promising research profile and very good teaching experience on undergraduate programmes is essential. A background in in child and adolescent mental health, health, social care, youth work, child psychology or education, with therapeutic knowledge/experience being of particular interest with supporting qualifications would be an advantage.

To be successful you will further enrich our student’s experience through your expertise and subject knowledge as evidenced through your qualifications and extensive experience of professional practice. In return, you will join a forward thinking and dynamic team that pushes the boundaries of curriculum development within mental health education.
