A full-time postdoctoral position in musculoskeletal pathology of ageing is available in the Department of Musculoskeletal and Ageing Science at the University of Liverpool, in the Osteoarthritis group headed by principal investigator Dr Blandine Poulet.

This exciting, multidisciplinary project, funded by the MRC, aims to define mechanisms of joint degeneration during osteoarthritis development, using state-pf-the-art in vivo transgenic approaches and multiple murine models to address the role of specific extracellular matrix components, such as fibrillin-1, in whole joint pathology. In vitro cell assays and molecular investigations will complement these in vivo techniques.

You should have a PhD in in Biological sciences or related subjects, with special interest in osteoarthritis or joint biology and pathology desirable.

Expertise in in vivo mouse models of disease, and in molecular and cellular in vitro techniques are essential. Strong collaborative and team work skills are required.

Any applicants who are still awaiting their PhD to be awarded should be aware that if successful, they will be appointed at grade 6, spine point 30.  Upon written confirmation that they have been successful in being awarded their PhD, they will be moved onto grade 7, spine point 31 from the date of their award.

This position is available on a fixed term basis until 30 June 2026.
