Background
Electronic Prescribing and Medicines Administration (EPMA) is being implemented nationally in the hospital setting to improve medicines safety and delivery of care.
iMPACT (Investigating Medication Prescribing Accuracy for Critical error Types) standardises the collection of 126 high-risk prescribing indicators of error in the medical inpatient hospital setting. Designed by researchers at the University of Birmingham and funded by the NHS, the software is used to investigate the impact of an electronic prescribing and medicines administration (EPMA) system on the rate of high-risk prescribing errors.
The successful candidate will conduct quantitative analysis on the audit data collected and disseminate the findings in a peer-reviewed publication and project report. The successful candidate will have an interest in the topic of medicines safety and experience with quantitative data analysis.
Role Summary
- Work within specified research grants and/or associated projects with the research team and supervisor(s)

Main Duties
- Collect research data; this may be through a variety of research methods, such as scientific experimentation, literature reviews, and research interviews
- Analyse research data from the iMPACT audit tool
- Present research outputs, including drafting academic publications or parts thereof, for example at seminars and as posters
Person Specification
- Degree or equivalent in relevant subject area (e.g., Medical Sciences, Nursing, Sociology, Psychology and other health related degrees).
- Practical experience of managing data and applying relevant skills and techniques.
- Ability to analyse information and communicate effectively.
- Ability to access and organise resources successfully.
