The role

It is an exciting time to join Bristol Dental School as we move to a city centre state-of-the-art site (1 Trinity Quay, Avon Street, Bristol) to deliver a new operating model in Summer 2023.

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an initiative-taking, enthusiastic and flexible dental nurse to work across multidisciplinary areas in the new 119 chair clinical facility.

You will support the day-to-day running of the clinical operations, and will be involved in the delivery of education in this predominantly teaching environment for dental undergraduates and trainee dental nurses providing direct clinical care to patients in our community.

There will be opportunities for in-house CPD and dental nurse post-qualifications, as and when required, to support post-graduate students training and clinical need.

What will you be doing?

  • Providing support to the dental students, with a focus on dental radiology working within the team as we transition to the New Dental School.
  • Promoting safe working practices and guidance which underpins the training of dental nurses, dental undergraduates and to also support postgraduate students in the future.
  • Preparation and rotation within the clinical areas, setting up of clinical bays on individual departments where you will also provide chairside assistance to staff and students as required. To include the management of materials and supplies (ordering and stocktaking), the maintenance of equipment and their repair when necessary.
  • Providing guidance and training in dental nursing and dental imaging techniques or working towards training in dental imaging within the departmental radiology spaces.
  • Highlighting the importance of Quality Assurance, Health & Safety and Infection Prevention Control on induction to clinics and laboratories for trainee dental nurses, dental undergraduates and subsequently throughout their clinical placement.

You should apply if

  • You are an enthusiastic individual who is highly motivated and organised to support and deliver a full range of dental nursing duties across clinical departments, dental radiology, and the dental laboratories.
  • You have a dental nurse qualification and registered with the General Dental Council.
  • Full time/part time/Job share working available- Monday-Friday, 35 hours per week.
  • Salary Range – Grade F £25,948 (£14.26 per hour) to £28,929 (£15.90 per hour) based on 35 hours per week- depending on experience.
